What do Meghan Markle, Emma Watson, Kendal Jenner and Katie Holmes have in common? VEJA sneakers, that’s what! Veja has always been known as an environmentally-friendly fashion brand, but now it’s moving from the style runway and onto the actual running track, with the launch of its world first post-petroleum running shoe, The Condor.
The Condor has come about after four long years of research and development. Using innovative materials, The Condor is made with a majority recycled materials. The upper part of the running trainer is made from 100 per cent recycled plastic bottles, with the midsole using 55 per cent regular EVA rubber and 45 per cent bio-based materials, including ricinus (vegetable) oil, banana oil, sugar cane and rice husks, all waste byproducts from the food industry.
The inspiration for the shoe, its biomimetic design and its name, came from the eponymous South American bird’s lightness in movement and flexibility in flight.
If this isn’t enough to inspire you, this vegan, ecological running shoe is made in Brazil in a factory that respects the workers’ rights and the environment is absolutely the heart and soul (or should we say sole!) of this trainer.
VEJA’s first step into the running world and is available in six colours/styles making it not only environmentally friendly but also versatile and stylish. Well done VEJA – we’re looking forward to giving them a run for their money.

Sally is a director of The Vegan Company.
Sally has extensive experience working in high end fashion and beauty across media and communications, starting out in London (does mentioning the 90s date her?!) before settling in Sydney.
She loves a start up, so when the chance came to put her skills to work with early stage companies she formed her own business and went for it, consulting to a number of fantastic businesses that have gone on to be great successes.
As a qualified colour and style consultant, Sally is not afraid to tell you who wore it best! With 4 children (counting, of course, the 4 legged fur ball) and a home in Sydney’s inner west, Sally loves her busy life: running, cycling, walking, sports and good food and wine….definitely good wine!
Having grown up in the mincemeat environment of Northern England, working on The Vegan Company has altered Sally’s perspective on life, and opened her eyes. She genuinely feels that she can make a change, one step at a time, one day at a time! She is proud to be part of this new wave, and for her, this new world.
